John 5: A Window into Heaven

Scripture Focus: John 5:17–20, 30 & John 5:39

“Very truly I tell you, the Son can do nothing by himself; he can do only what he sees his Father doing…” (John 5:19)

Reflection:
Jesus lived in perfect submission to the Father. Every word He spoke and every miracle He performed was a direct reflection of what the Father was doing in Heaven. His life on earth was not independent—He was a living window into Heaven, revealing the will, love, and power of God.

When we open the Bible and read about Jesus, we are not just reading history—we are beholding the present heart of the Father. Every act of compassion, every healing, every word of truth—these are the works of the Father on display. To live like Jesus is to host and release Heaven on earth.

The Father delights in revealing His power to us. Jesus never avoided miracles or signs; in fact, He embraced them because they were the Father’s doing. As believers, we are called to pursue a life marked by the miraculous—not for our own name or platform, but because miracles point to Jesus and cause others to marvel at the goodness of God.

In this moment in history, God is increasing our faith. A deeper kind of faith—one that looks to Heaven and recognizes the Father through the life of the Son. Jesus is not just a teacher or prophet; He is God in the flesh. Sadly, even within the Church, He remains a mystery to many. Just as the Pharisees missed Him while He stood before them, we too can miss Him if we only search the Scriptures for information rather than revelation.

John 5:39 reminds us: “You study the Scriptures diligently because you think that in them you have eternal life. These are the very Scriptures that testify about me.”
The purpose of the Word is to lead us into an encounter with Jesus.

Prayer:
Father, open my eyes to see Jesus in every page of Your Word. Help me to live a life that reflects what You are doing in Heaven. Increase my faith to believe for miracles—not for my own glory, but so that others may witness and marvel at You. Let my life bear witness to Jesus, the Word made flesh. Amen.
