Spirit of Elijah

“Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet before the great and awesome day of the LORD comes. And he will turn the hearts of fathers to their children and the hearts of children to their fathers, lest I come and strike the land with a decree of utter destruction.” (Malachi 4:6)

On October 5, 2022, I was invited to preach at Esther Prayer Movement in Yeoido. This ministry has prayed every day from 10:30pm to 4am for the past 16 years. I preached there twice and this was the third time in 2 weeks that Professor Yong-Hee Lee asked to share the word. He asked if I could preach on deliverance. I’ve done deliverance for individuals, but rarely have I held services specifically for deliverance. Also the fact that I was in a Korean environment made me feel a little apprehensive. I also thought: what if no one is healed or delivered?

I preached a messaged titled, “Life is War,” from Act 10:38 and I shared my experiences with deliverance. I explained that demons come in through sin and even through trauma, since they open doors to the enemy. Once the door of lives is open, you don’t get a choice in the matter of what gets through. Just as if you open the door of your house and insects will find their way in, so it is in the Spirit. When we open doors, demons have access to our lives.

After preaching, there was no immediate alter call, because there were topics and announcements that needed to be addressed. I preached at 11 and ended around 12:15. Then at 2, the professor wanted to pray for the sick over the mic. After that, I asked if anyone was feeling the presence of God and several hands shot up. I began to pray for them and one by one they began to fall under the power of God. Several people started to manifest signs of being delivered as they began to cough up these foul demonic spirits.

I wonder if Elijah felt the same way when he confronted the false prophets of Baal and Astoreth. Perhaps Elijah wondered if fire really would fall from the sky. It’s one thing to read about miracles, its another to experience them first hand.

By God’s grace the fire fell on Elijah’s alter. By God’s grace, the fire fell that day at Esther Prayer movement and majority of the people experienced the tangible presence of God and the fire of the Holy Spirit.

God has poured out his Spirit and the moment we say yes to God, he will raise you up to be a messenger.
